Knowledge That Connects the Journey

Every ingredient has a story.

It begins with the land, the crop and the people who grow it. It continues through harvesting, processing and quality, and finally finds its way into our kitchens and everyday lives.

Along the way, there are traditions to discover, questions to ask, science to understand and choices to make.

The Vedamint Knowledge Centre brings these connections together in one place — helping you understand ingredients, discover ways to use them and explore the ideas behind responsible, conscious living.

For Vedamint's own farming journey, visit Our Farmers & Sustainability.

For product testing and quality information, visit Test Reports & Quality Information.

Our purpose is simple: to make useful knowledge easier to understand, because better choices often begin with better understanding.

Circular Farming

Circular farming asks a simple question:

Can we use resources more thoughtfully and reduce unnecessary waste?

In agriculture, this can include composting, mulching, reuse of organic materials and returning useful resources to productive cycles, depending on the crop and local conditions.

Regenerative Approaches

Regenerative approaches are broader methods that seek to improve or maintain the health and resilience of agricultural ecosystems.

Their application depends on the crop, soil, climate and local conditions.

Responsible farming is a journey, not a slogan.

Tradition & Science

Traditional knowledge tells us about practices passed through generations.

Science seeks evidence through research, testing and measurement.

We respect both — and keep them distinct.
08 — SCIENCE & EVIDENCE

Understanding What We Know

Turmeric is a whole agricultural ingredient containing naturally occurring compounds, including curcuminoids.

Curcumin is one such compound associated with turmeric, but it is not synonymous with the whole ingredient.

Understanding this distinction can help you interpret information about turmeric more accurately.

Our Approach

A laboratory result tells us about the parameters tested in a particular sample.

It does not automatically establish every characteristic of a product.

We measure what matters, understand what was measured and communicate what the evidence actually supports.

Claims, Myths & Facts

Food, wellness and agricultural information can sometimes be confusing.

Ask. Check. Understand.

Some statements come from traditional practice. Some are supported by scientific research. Some are interpretations. And some are simply myths.

Does more curcumin automatically mean better turmeric?

Is traditional use the same as scientific evidence?

Can colour alone determine turmeric quality?

What does "natural" or "chemical-free" actually mean?

Our objective isn't to tell you what to believe.

It is to help you ask better questions and make more informed choices.

Our Approach to Knowledge

Evidence Over Exaggeration

Some stories begin in our kitchens — in the warmth of a nani's nuskha or a dadi's advice.

Some come from generations of observation.

And some are shaped by what modern science has carefully studied.

We bring these perspectives together with respect, while keeping one distinction clear:

Tradition is tradition. Observation is observation. Scientific evidence is scientific evidence.

One should never be dressed up as another.

Our Promise

We honour where our knowledge comes from while staying honest about:

  • What we know
  • What we're still learning
  • What the evidence can actually tell us
No exaggerated promises. No borrowed certainty.

Just curiosity, context and respect for the truth.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Questions, Explained Simply

Is turmeric the same as curcumin?

No. Turmeric is the whole agricultural ingredient; curcumin is a naturally occurring compound associated with it.

What's the difference between fresh and dried turmeric?

Fresh turmeric has substantially more moisture and a different texture, aroma and character. Drying changes its physical properties and improves storage stability.

Why can turmeric composition vary?

Factors including variety, growing conditions, maturity, harvesting, processing and storage can all play a role.

Why is laboratory testing useful?

Laboratory testing provides objective information about specified parameters in a particular sample, although it does not tell us everything about a product.

Is traditional knowledge the same as scientific evidence?

No. They are different forms of knowledge, understood within their own contexts.

What is traceability?

Traceability is the ability to connect relevant information across every stage of a product's journey.

What is circular farming?

Circular farming is an approach that keeps useful resources within productive agricultural cycles and reduces unnecessary waste.

Knowledge With a Traceable Foundation

Good knowledge should have a traceable foundation.

Where a Knowledge Centre resource discusses scientific, agricultural or technical subjects, relevant sources are provided for readers who want to explore further.

Sources May Include

  • Scientific publications
  • Government authorities
  • Agricultural research institutions
  • Universities
  • Recognised scientific organisations
  • Traditional or historical references

Where appropriate, individual resources identify their author and publication or review date.

Knowledge Changes the Way We See Everyday Things

A turmeric rhizome is more than an ingredient.

It has a crop, a farmer, a season, a journey and a story.

A traditional recipe connects us with culture.

A laboratory report helps us understand what has been measured.

Traceability connects a product with its documented journey.

And knowledge helps us make more informed choices.

At Vedamint, we believe knowledge shouldn't simply tell people what to think.

It should help people understand, question, explore, create and decide.

From soil to table.
From tradition to today.
From evidence to understanding.
From knowledge to conscious choice.
